Working solution focused with autistic cliënts
“putting difference to work”

We often get reactions of disbelief when we proclaim to work solution focused with autistics clients. Because of the future orientation and the need of imagination to answer solution focused questions, people think this isn ’t appropriate for them.

Just suppose we found a way to work really in a solution focused manner with autistic people and that we even concluded that SF is ideal for them? Well, we did!

We developed a concept called “D.I.F.F.E.R.E.N.T” as an acronym and as a basic supposition to work with autistic clients (and their families, parents, partners, …)
D.I.F.F.E.R.E.N.T is a way to represent the basic different way of thinking of people with autism and helps you to adapt solution focused techniques to autistic thinking.

Learning object ifs:

  •  you will be inspired for an alternative way of thinking about your autistic clients
  •  you will learn some techniques to work solution focused with your clients
  •  you will be able to understand how the pragmatism of SF is ideal in guiding your autistic clients.
